"Um...hey...uh...why don't you come over for supper tonight. Mikey misses you and it would be nice to see the kids together. I'm in apartment 408...uh...see you later then...
Aly stared at her phone as sat down in the kitchen chair heavily with an audible sigh. She had left that voicemail this morning. Either Max hated her, or he just had a better new life. She placed her head in her hands, she had truly fucked up her life. She was a single parent who was now looking after two young boys that had way too much energy. The tea kettle started whistling. She got up and poured the hot water into cup and let the tea back soak. She sighed and walked into the living room where she could hear the two fooling around, doing who knows what.
She leaned against the wall and looked in on them. Her arms were folded and her legs crossed. She was wearing simple red fleece pants and a white t-shirt with them, her socks were red and white. She shook her head, she had told them no indoor soccer and well they weren't playing soccer, but rolling around on the floor passing the ball back and forth with their hands. She had to smile as they weren't breaking any of the house rules, which weren't many to begin with.
She walked back into the kitchen, it was around five in the afternoon and it would take an hour for her to make the pizza and bread sticks. She took the dough out from the fridge and started to roll out the pizza crust for a large pizza. She had forgotten about the basket on the table with her to-do list in it basically. The divorce papers were on top, still waiting for her signature.

Max had gotten the message right after he got out of the shower. He read it as he walked into his room and got dressed, picking out a decent outfit now that he was going somewhere. He shook his head hard and dried it with a towel and then went over to Jazz, who was playing in her play pen. He picked her up, took her to change and then he answered Aly back, "Ok... I'll be over in about a half an hour."
He got Jazz dressed and told her what they were doing and she seemed happy enough. He dressed her in a blue dress. He had her in his one arm and he grabbed his keys and wallet and walked out of the door, locking it before heading to the car. He put Jazz in her car seat in his big black pick-up and then he started the engine and drove off to the apartments....
Walking up to the door, he knocked and then let Jazz down so she could run in, otherwise she would fuss in his arms. He ran a hand through his wet hair and waited quietly....

Aly's phone was on silent and she didn't know she had a message and jumped when she heard a knock at the door. She brushed off her hands and went to open the door. "Boys behave..." She watched them as Jeff picked up the ball and put it away. She smiled as she opened the door, "Hey Max...Jazz." There was flour on her face from rolling out the pizza dough. "Come in...my phone must be on silent again." She stepped out of the way and headed back to the kitchen. Jeff and Micheal came out from their bedroom smiling mischievously.
Jeff smiled, "Max! Jazz!" He was standing behind Mikey who just stared at the familiar faces in front of him.

Jazz looked up at the open door curiously to see who was on the other end, she smiled wide as she saw familiar people. She waddle in and Max watched her and then looked at Ali. He cocked a brow at the flour on her face and held her chin and wiped the flour away. "Your welcome..." He said with a small smile. He walked in and stood watching the kids for a few moments....

"You didn't have too..." Aly smiled back, talking about the flour on her face. She opened the oven door and pulled out a pan of hot, fresh bread sticks. She looked at the pizza and finished putting the last of the cheese topping on it. It was just a combination of everyone's favorite ingredients, as it slid into the oven. With it in she walked back over to where Max was, "Do you want something to drink? I'm afraid the only alcohol I have is sweet wine that Bryan bought...I do have a large supply of pop though." She was looking down at the kids, watching as Jeff and Mikey were trying to coax Jazz into playing a game of who-only-knew-what. The idea of showering crossed her mind slightly.

Max smiled and then looked back at her, "Pop is fine... any flavor." he said. Jazz seemed to like the idea of little kids to play with and she ran off. Max walked over to Ali and then walked intot he kitchen with her. He wasn't nervous or anything, hell he lived with her for awhile. "What have you been doing lately?" he asked now that she was away from valora....

"Okay then, Mountain Dew it is..." Aly went back to the fridge and pulled out a bottle of it. For some reason she was just buying the bottle of pop instead of the cans. She set it down on the table and sat down in one of the chairs. "Not much really, just watching these two. I've got a full time job at the book store in the mall." She gave a shrug and picked up her cup on the table with the tea in it, taking a sip. It was still extremely hot. "So what about you? I see Jazz is still daddy's little girl." Her face suddenly looked solemn as that idea brought up memories from before the kids were even being thought about. She didn't try to hide it, there was no point when she had married him and had their kids. She looked up from the cup that sat in front of her lips and forced a smile.

Max poured himself something to drink, thanking her for getting the bottle. He drank some and then placedthe cup back down, looking up at her as she started to explain things. He watched her face and then her forced smile, he gulped and then sat back in his chair. "Yeah.. She's been... ok. I think she needs more little kids around... I have her with Ma alot... I got that carpenter stuff starting up, once the weather gets ugly though, I'll be home more." He said. "Does Bry help out? IS he living here too? Or does he have a place of his own?" He asked a bunch of different questions to get the sadden look away from Aly's face....

Aly just started to shake her head when he asked about Bryan and if he helped. "The only time I see him is when he pays his rent and drops off some cash since I'm taking care of Jeff again." She forced the look on her face away, it now looked naturally unreadable and blank. She put the cup down and got up, putting all the bread sticks on plate. She even had a bowl of warm marinara sauce. "Here, some bread sticks. Always better when they're before the pizza." She smiled and set them down on the table, figuring that the kids would want just pizza when it was done. She sat back down, "Bet your mom has her a little spoilt." She couldn't think of grandparents that didn't want to spoil their grandkids. Heck her parents visited more often than usual.

Max smiled at her and took a breadstick, "Yeah.... She's buying her all kinds of stuff." He smiled warmly. "She'd like it if she could see her grandson though." He said smiling. "She loves them both equally." He bit into his breadstick and ate it.....

Aly swallowed, having heard what Max said about Cara wanting to see her grandson. She stopped smiling, feeling guilty she looked away from Max and the food on the table. She reached over and grabbed a bead stick, starting to slowly tear it into small pieces and eating them slowly. She didn't know what to say now and so didn't say anything.

Max looked up at her as she seemed to not say anythign for awhile, and then he looked back down. "What?" He asked her, seeing she wasn't smiling anymore. "Did I say somethign I shouldn't have?" he asked her....

"You never have before, why would you now?" Aly was being sarcastic, but the tone didn't seem to come through very well. Her mind drifted back to the shower. She got up and checked the pizza and set a small timer sitting on the counter. "Max, the pizza should be done in ten minutes. You don't mind watching it while I go and shower do you?" She really wasn't waiting for a reply as she took the apron off and walked toward the bathroom.

Max cocked a brow at her and then stood up, "Shower? Shouldn't that have been... ugh nevermind." He said as she walked away. He took a deep breath sat down again and shook his head lightly, rolling his eyes. Within the next ten minutes Max walked over and took the pizza out of the oven, setting it on the stove to cool. He heard the kids running around and playing, a small smile crossing his face. Then he saw Jazz and Mike, then Jeff come shooting around the corner, chasing eachother. Oh boy, what it would be like to be a kid again....

Aly already had all of her clothes in the bathroom so she could just head out into the kitchen when she was done. She stood in the shower when she was done and just let the hot water wash over her. She got out and quickly dried off, leaving her hair wet. She put on her jeans and black halter top. Her hair was partially dry and already forming perfect ringlets on her back.
Out of the bathroom she could smell the pizza on the stove and saw as the three kids were chasing each other. She thought of when she was little on the farm and slowly came back to the present, thinking of the time she had shot Max with an arrow during a practice session. She shook her head lightly and walked into the kitchen picking up he cup of tea. "You were saying something when I went into the bathroom?"
