Parker followed behind his brother, his brows knitting together as he wondered where they were going. His hazel eyes searched the tree tops, taking in the faint light that filtered though to the forest floor. It was getting darker by the second. "Pierce..." he said to his older brother, stumbling up behind him. "Mom wanted us home by dark... And you know dad's gonna be pissed if he has to come looking for us again."
It wasn't a very pretty sight when either of their parents got angry. Pierce, Parker and their younger sister, Carsyn, hadn't exactly grown up in a normal environment. And definitely not an environment suitable for children. But they were use to their life. They were too much like their father, Pierce especially. He was just as sick and twisted.
Pierce turned around and glared at his brother, his eyes changing from their deep and dark hazel to pure black. "Would you shut it dipshit?" he hissed. "I know that. Don't worry about it, this is important." As he spoke, his brother collapsed onto his hands and knees, pain coursing through his body. He looked back up at his brother and nodded, sweat beading his forehead as he held back a cry of pain.
Pierce let go of his power and continued on, not bothering to help Parker up. "Come on, before I leave you here for the wolves to eat."
Parker stumbled to his feet and made his way after Pierce. It took a while, but Parker finally recognized where they were going. "Pierce! We're not allowed near the school alone!" he hissed, looking around franticly. Instead of turning this time, Pierce just shook his head in annoyance and continued on.
They came onto the school grounds and snook over to where they could see a group of kids playing around. The youngest of them was sitting along with her back up against a tree. It was a summer night and fireflies were lighting up there area as the kids ran around, catching them and throwing them into a jar.
The two boys hid behind a tree and Pierce pulled something out of his shirt that he had been hiding from his brother. Parker had a disgusted look on his face as he saw that it was a dead squirrel.
Pierce's eyes turned a shady mixture of purple and dark gray as he set the squirrel down on the ground and it sprung to life like a puppet. Its eyes were gouged out and one of its ears was hanging off by just a thread of flesh. It's fur was matted and there was a chunk missing from its torso where it had been bitten by something.
The squirrel started to make it's way over to the sad and lonely girl. Her eyes turned to it slowly and she practically jumped out of her skin. She jumped from where she was sitting and ran over to one of the older boys with tears in her eyes as Pierce and Parker started to crack up with laughter.
"Adia!" the boy said, turning to her with a confused look. "What's wrong?!" He stared at his little sister with worry, his eyes shooting to the forest, close to where the two boys were trying to hush up their laughter.
"Louie, there's a squirrel!" she said, pointing at the now lifeless squirrel on the ground. "It's dead, but it was moving!" The other kids were starting to gather around now, the oldest was a girl somewhere around the ages of seven to nine.
"It's dead Adia, it couldn't have moved," the girl said, going over to observe it, somewhat disgusted. "Ew gross! Vince, come take a look at this..."
"Woah!" the oldest of the boys said as he observed the dead thing. "Dude, it doesn't have any eyes!"
Adia was growing more upset. "But it did move Jazz!" she said, sniffing. "I saw it! It came right at me!" She cried and clung to Louie as two other boys jogged over.
The two boys were right around Adia's age. "Is everything ok?" one of them said, looking over at Adia.
Louie looked over as Justin and Gage came over. "She says she saw the squirrel over there move," he said, nodding toward the dead lump that was now being poked with a stick by Vincent.
