Viv was in the school library, searching the shelves. Actually, she wasn't really looking at the books. She was thinking of what had happened the night before. It was getting quite late in the afternoon, but she had already skipped dinner and quite frankly, she was not in the right mind to do much. Her body was still aching from the fight that had taken place and she was both physically and psychologically tired.
She had barely slept the night before and the little amount of sleep that she actually did get had been plagued by nightmares. She was so tired, that she decided to sit down for a while at one of the wooden tables in the back of the large library on the top floor((for those who don't know, the library is actually five floors and in the north tower of the school... I should have said that in a description of the library...)). She allowed herself a yawn and then when her head started nodding, she allowed herself to rest it down on top of a book that she had open on the table. And with that... she fell asleep.
Vivienne was on the scene of a battle. She had been there before, but this time seemed different. She was no longer a little girl, like she had been at the actual time of the battle. No, she was her regular, 15 year old self. And this time she was fighting.
No one could stand in her way. Then, the battle led her deep into the woods, where she saw a figure coming closer, hidden by the shadows and trees ahead of her. She closed her eyes tightly and tried to summon up a storm... but it wouldn't come. She opened her eyes in disbelief and peered down at her hands. Not even a spark from her fingertips... her powers were gone and the figure was coming closer.
The man stepped closer and Viv could now see most of him, but half of his face was hidden in the shadows. It was Eryk Kimball. He seemed to be snarling at her, but she avoided his eyes. She went to run, but Eryk raised his hand and a wall of fire now surrounded her. She could feel his eyes on her back, the anger and rage that gleamed in his eyes.
Against her will, she turned around and looked at him. He stepped closer to her and Viv was shocked to see half of his face scarred and mangled badly as if... he had been badly burned by... Vivienne. As if they were acting on their own accord, Viv's eyes moved upward until they were staring into his.
Pain shot through her body, such agony that it forced her to her knees, screaming. Her fingers were digging into the dirt beneath her and tears were streaming down her face. After a moment, she looked up, wanting it to end, to die. What she saw there was enough to haunt her for the rest of her life.
Her mother stood before her. An evil grin on her face. It was not the kind of look her mother would ever give someone. It was evil and full of hate and a lust for revenge. She looked down at Viv, and said the words that Viv had feared her entire life. The words that nobody would ever say to her. But she knew they were true. "It's all your fault..."
